First Steps     

This is a 45 minute class designed for young children (3-4 years of age). Dancers explore the basics of tap, ballet, and acro in each weekly class. Boys and Girls will enjoy a variety of music from classical to big band to pop, all age appropriate.

 

This introductory program will help children develop a good foundation for future dance and encourages them to appreciate a variety of styles of movement.

 

 

 

Classes will focus on the structure of a dance class, listening to and following instruction, cooperation, coordination, rhythm and active participation. 

 

Introductory Acro work to include - floorwork, balances and locomotor movements to facilitate coordination and strength necessary for skill development i.e. log rolls, front rolls, frog jumps, bear walks, baby bridges, rock and rolls, cobra position, abdominal and back stretches, one leg balances, table tops, beginner hand balances and assisted cartwheels.

 

Children in this full season program will perform in the year end recital. B.A.T.D. examinations are available to those who qualify.

 

Each week, class begins with TAP so parents may assist with getting shoes on properly.

Little Stars                                                         

This is a 45 minute class for children ages 5-6: a progression from the First Steps program. Dancers explore the basics of tap, ballet, and acro in each weekly class. Boys and Girls will enjoy a variety of music from classical to big band to pop, all age appropriate.

 

This program further develops the basics established in First Steps. Completion of this program ensures proper transition to junior level classes.

 

 

Introductory Acro work to include - floorwork, balances and locomotor movements to facilitate coordination and strength necessary for skill development i.e. log rolls, front rolls, frog jumps, bear walks, baby bridges, rock and rolls, cobra position, abdominal and back stretches, one leg balances, table tops, beginner hand balances and assisted cartwheels.
